3 of 5 Shake Loose a Memory Game September 12, 2023
Reviewer: Sharon LaPrell from Bettendorf, IA United States
I was disappointed with this game. The directions clearly were addressed to an early learning teacher and the questions were appropriate for this age group and possibly for later stage dementia or Alzheimer's, not early or middle stage.  On a positive note it arrived in a timely matter and packaged in a sturdy box for storage.

"Hi Sharon. Since many late stage Dementia patients are non-verbal, we do suggest the Shake Loose Games are for Early and Mid-Stage Memory Loss. The questions are geared to be fun conversation-starters, and not necessarily trivia and challenging. We are happy to hear that you received your order quickly!" - The Alzheimer's Store

my mom says she enjoys this game, and it's great that the game is designed to give an advantage to someone who has done things that younger players may not have done (like milking a cow or churning butter)

Great idea. I've used this game with individuals in early stage dementia. It has been effective for increased length of response. I enjoy the smiles, too!

5 of 5 Dementia patients can play July 25, 2022
Reviewer: For our Mother from Wheeling, WV United States
Dementia patients that can still recall bits of the past and relate even a little bit of details will feel a sense of accomplishment for their success. It also conjures up good memories. It can be easily be tailored to the advantage of the patient.

4 of 5 Nice game May 25, 2022
Reviewer: Danielle from Flint, MI United States
We enjoyed playing the game. Sometimes, we couldn't relate to the follow-up questions, but the topics were good. All of us, regardless of memory loss, were able to actively participate. The game idea is a good one, but the effectiveness does depend on the willingness of the person with the memory loss. My mother couldn't always remember or got her memories mixed up. Throughout the game, she was distracted with the cards in front of her, either re-reading the ones she already pulled, or getting confused by thinking that after rolling the dice, she needed to pull from one of her cards instead of a new card from the deck.

Next time, we will make more adjustments so she can just focus on the game and see how it goes.

It was fun overall for all of us, though.
