Memory Games for Seniors with Dementia

The object of Shake Loose A Memory Games is to keep as many cards as possible, but the real goal is to talk about and recall memories -- the games were designed specifically for people with Alzheimer's.

Every question begins: "Keep this card if..." -

"If you have played the piano, do you remember practicing?"
"If you've ever had champagne. Remember celebrating weddings?"

There are no wrong answers. The game's purpose is to create success and help recall positive emotional events. Each Shake Loose Game comes with 192 cards and a single die. Great for 1-6 players!

Shake Loose a Memory and the other four games in this collection use no-fail questions and situations to get people talking about their pasts and remembering good times. All five games in this set were designed specifically for people with memory impairment including Alzheimer's. All help to validate the individual and reinforce self-concept.

Dementia patients that can still recall bits of the past and relate even a little bit of details will feel a sense of accomplishment for their success. It also conjures up good memories. It can be easily be tailored to the advantage of the patient.

4 of 5 Nice game May 25, 2022

We enjoyed playing the game. Sometimes, we couldn't relate to the follow-up questions, but the topics were good. All of us, regardless of memory loss, were able to actively participate. The game idea is a good one, but the effectiveness does depend on the willingness of the person with the memory loss. My mother couldn't always remember or got her memories mixed up. Throughout the game, she was distracted with the cards in front of her, either re-reading the ones she already pulled, or getting confused by thinking that after rolling the dice, she needed to pull from one of her cards instead of a new card from the deck.

Next time, we will make more adjustments so she can just focus on the game and see how it goes.

It was fun overall for all of us, though.

Purchasing gifts for my mother who has dementia was very easy and they have many things to choose from. My mom lives in another state with my sister so I had to have it delivered to her home which was there in a very timely manner. My mom is only done the puzzle so far but really enjoyed it, I'm still waiting to hear how she likes the game. Will be purchasing or items from here I'm sure.
