We purchased this companion cat for my mother, who has Alzheimer’s and has always loved cats. As her dementia progressed, caring for a live pet became difficult. We honestly had no idea whether she would accept this.

We told Mom it was a toy cat to keep us company, but she almost immediately began interacting with it as though it were real. It looks very similar to her own cat, which may help. She holds it on her lap, pets it, watches it move and roll over, smiles when it responds, and carries on long conversations with it as it meows and purrs. She even wonders where he should sleep and whether someone has fed him.

Every person with dementia is different, but the comfort and happiness this has given my mom is remarkable. We bought it knowing she might completely reject it. Instead, her response has amazed our entire family. Absolutely a five-star purchase for us.

We bought the tuxedo Playmate Pet cat for my mother-in-law when she was in hospice care. She got so much comfort from holding the cat and listening to it purr. She petted it and talked to it, and it laid in her lap until she passed.
We did use the Mute option, which stops the meowing but allows the purring. She was a little surprised when it meowed. Wonderful item and worth the price.

I wasn’t sure how my dad would take to a mechanical dog, but after reading an article in the Tampa Bay paper, I decided to order one. He LOVES it. My mom says he speaks more to the dog than to her, haha. I’m so happy to give him a companion that he can interact with and enjoy.

The problem is that my husband wanted me to take it home as he did not feel he could "take care of it"!
