Radio + MP3 Music Player for Seniors & those w/ Dementia

You asked. We listened. And the result is music to all of our ears.
When Relish set out to create an accessible radio for people with Dementia, it was important to consult the community. Through lengthy feedback and collaboration with people living with Alzheimer’s and Dementia, Relish developed a unique personal listening device that does more than play music, it empowers all to enjoy their favorite music.

Introducing Relish Radio.
Blending a retro-nostalgic aesthetic with a contemporary modern finish, this radio is a family favorite. Every detail represents research and refinement. From the stark white color against grey accents that provides greater visibility and ease of use, to unique button tones that help people identify features based on sound, Relish Radio minimizes confusion and maximizes independence.

Individuality was not overlooked.
The personalization panel on top of the radio allows for unique station pre-sets to be programmed. Whether their preference is the ‘Swinging 60s’, ‘Relaxing Afternoons’, or even ‘Talk Radio’ this feature helps you truly make it their own.

Relish Radio provides an easy-to-use control panel and large buttons for clarity, a volume dial that will never reach zero to ensure the user always know it’s on, and a 3-watt speaker system for an optimum listening experience.

Music and Dementia.
Music is a powerful tool for improving the wellbeing of people with Dementia, allowing them to connect with their past and people in their present with its ability to light up memories. As well as reducing agitation and stress, recent findings suggest that that musical training delays cognitive decline and promotes brain plasticity in the elderly brain.

Tune into their favorite station and enjoy the sound of someone humming, whistling or singing along. You may even see an impromptu twirl or foot-tapping, symptomatic of an impulsive expression of contentment, relaxation, and happiness.

5 of 5 Excellent for all older people July 17, 2024
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from UK
My Mum is 91 and stopped listening to the radio some years ago, partly due to fiddly buttons and poor reception on her old one. This seems ideal as she is developing shaky hands and is not great with any technology, so it should hopefully be useable for years. The reception is good, as is the sound quality and looks. Once I've worked out how to download from Spotify, I hope to set up the playlist function, my only reservation being that there is no shuffle on it, which would have been nice.

5 of 5 Dementia Radio & Music Player July 15, 2024
Reviewer: C from IN
I bought this for my Dad who currently suffers from the later stages of dementia and is staying in a care home. He was a musical person before he became ill, playing in orchestras etc, and unfortunately staying in a home doesn't offer him much in the way of musical entertainment. Phones/iPods/normal radios are too difficult for him to use.
Thank god we found this! It's simple and easy to use with large buttons that are unlikely to be pressed by mistake as well as an accessible display at the back that allows us to easily save my Dad's favorite stations. The customizable cards are a nice touch, and the box comes with extra cards for variation. Despite struggling with most simple tasks, my Dad is able to use this with little to no help!
Watching him enjoy his favorite songs is a real delight and of course a great comfort to him. Absolutely recommend it!

4 of 5 Over All Great Radio May 15, 2024
Reviewer: Anonymous Person
I purchased this radio for my 89-yo mother who loves it: sounds great, looks great and is easy for her to use. My only criticism is that the panel in the back for setup is not as user friendly as the radio itself. I found its functions a little too small for my 66 yo fingers and I couldn't scan channels easily. But it's totally worth it!

4 of 5 It's a Radio! May 13, 2024

It's a radio for elderly folk who find modern technology frustrating!
Perhaps it could do with a handle if being used primarily on batteries and being moved around!

5 of 5 Quality product not inexpensive, but worth it May 9, 2024
Reviewer: Don G
Needed for an older family member with significant physical limitations. They love music - and weren't getting to hear it anymore. For that reason alone, this product is a winner! Though, I agree with others, I was a bit shocked at the price and was surprised there aren't ANY other similar devices at a lower price-point. I will say, this is a QUALITY speaker, very clear sound. Though the DAB function adds to the cost - and has no use in the American market. Not all USB sticks will work (fortunately I had a shorter basic SanDisk which works great). The radio can be hit-or-miss based on reception - but setting up hours of commercial free MP3s is really where this shined. In the end- worth the price to provide a VERY simple music player for someone who appreciates it!
